Merry Christmas

as the Christmas day comes to a close, it was not without exciting incidents of frustration and family bitterness.
Gotta love the holidays.
bring on the New Year.

Monday, December 24, 2007

Ahh, the Holiday's....

You have to love the holiday's, the cold air; the excitement of little children as they anticipate the coming of a large jolly man in a red suit to bring them toys even if they know they have been nothing but bad; the mall streaming with shoppers busily looking for gifts that will have no meaning to the person they are giving it too as long as they give them something; the traffic as it builds up and seems to stand still at every light around all the major traffic patterns even though most people have taken xmas eve off work; the way that you are force to go to family functions and pretend to enjoy people, even though you know full well you would strangle them all in their sleep if you had the chance; the excuse you have to drink more beer/whiskey/rum/wine/gin/etc.. then normal because "Hey, it is the holiday's, and it is a time to celebrate," God bless the time to celebrate; the sad lonely looking gray clouds as cover the sky as if to say "Losers, no snow for you;" the heart warming stories of homeless people getting a good meal from good Samaritans who feel better when they help feed the homeless when in reality if they got to know them and found them a job or a help them on to their feet they would probably do quite well; the football season coming to a close, trying to figure out how your team can still get it on a wild card pick; the trash that fills your trash cans, the wrapping paper, the bows, the boxes, and the leftover turkey or ham, what a waste and a great way to fill our landfills (as if they do not need any more crap in them); the wonderfully funny but unfortunately, for your sake incriminating, pictures that turn up days later on your cell phone (how did those get there?); the feeling of eating too much and saying, "You know, i think i will quit smoking and join a gym for the new year." Sure, don't kid yourself, if you were going to join a gym you would have gotten off your ass and joined yesterday, you only say these things to make yourself feel better about having your third helping of ham and a 4th piece of that rum cake a la mode.

mmmm the holiday's... days off work, sleeping in only to wake with a pounding headache from too much rum/cake, the sound of the same Christmas carol in every story you go into only to realize that it is on in your car when you drive way cursing; the wonderful excuse to purchase yourself that super-cool gadget you wanted why, because it is up for super duper sale of the century during that 16 1/2 hour sale at Wal-Mart; the smiling faces that make this country everything that it is, everyone is so happy and willing to help you get your car out of the snow and let you in during the traffic back up, just thinking about those smiling faces makes me smile and feel good about our society.

The Holidays are time to reflect and realize that while you have to go back to work soon, your congressman and senators have off till the end of January, almost like your college students. There is something special about the holiday season that just make me feel good to be an American and living in a great state of commerce and happy loving people in this country.
Too my one reader of this blog; Happy Holiday's, Merry Christmas, Happy something or other, and have a great new year and good luck with your resolutions.
Cheers (bottoms up).

DC United off Season Trades

WTF!!!??? Kevin Payne and Tommy Sohn you suck and are not smart in the world of soccer. Who's idea was it to fucking trade Bobby Boswell? and Troy Perkins, you just let go of the 2006 Defender of the year and Goalie of the year. Okay, so they did not have a great 2007 season, who cares, that defense was still the least scored on defense in the league for 2007, and you have traded away 2 of you key pieces to that stellar defense. Trading Boswell to Houston for Keeper Zach Wells, who the fuck is Zach Wells, he was not even the starting keeper for the dynamo at the end of the season.... and do not pull that shit about "oh, Wells is part of the 2 time MLS championship team." Okay, fine he was part of those teams, but he was part of the BENCH team; he did not play in any of the playoff games and therefore has no business getting traded to the 4 time champs, DC UNITED.
Now we turn the rambles to the potential sale of Troy Perkins to a Norwegian League Team. That is a terrible idea, i really do not have to rage about this any more.
And the Washington Post has reported that 2006 Player of the Year Christian Gomez might not get his contract renewed. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Since his arrival in 2005 he as been the catalyst for the team to win thier 4 Championship and win the last 2 supporter shields with the best record in the League. If DCU does not renew his contract and let him go, then they have the dumbest and most ridiculous front office in the league. THe Post also reports that DCU is interested in Argentinan international Juan Sabastian Veron; now i like Veron, i feel he is a good player, but he is too old. He is just trying to be one of those old Europen players that is looking for a place to retire b/c the European game has passed him by and he cannot hang any more because he is too old. This is simply a terrible ploy to get more south american's to come to the DCU games.
It is terrible and sad that he DC front office is making decisions that are detrimental to the team chemistry and to the DC tradition of grooming young players.

7th Son Podcast-Rave reviews

If you are a podcast listener, and have not heard the 7th Son Trilogy you must have been living in an anti podcast cave.  This trilogy is on the best free stories on the podisphere.  It is a story that is well built and very comprehensive in nature.  It also is fairly believable, most of the book has current events and even though it is fiction, it really could be real.
If you have not heard it, go download this podcast by J.C. Hutchins NOW and enjoy the hours of excellent story.  He just finished the story and i have been listening to this story for almost a year, and have looked forward to every single installment.  It will make a great book and should make a great movie.

The future Mrs. Balddave

So years ago while flipping through the 907 Victoria's Secret catalogs that come to my house each year, I spotted this new comer to the lingerie game, Marisa Miller.
This women, is incredible. She is not stick skinny, and has all the healthy good curves a beautiful women should have. I know VS uses the whole "angel" thing, but his girls is truly as beautiful as an angel.
Enjoy.

Snowy Day

So we got some snow in the DC area this morning and school did not have a delay and it has totally fucked the entire commute for everybody.
Stupid school systems not have a hind sight like I have, geeeshhhh.   Losers.

Who likes dance music, sometimes like dance music.  Get a little techno pumping and get amped.  Yeah.... You know what i am talking about.

Sean Taylor

as a long time Redskins fan and DC resident, the news of Shawn Taylor death has really made me sad this morning. The Redskins Safety really seemed to turn his life around in the last few years, and was becoming a great person for the team, on and off he field. The circumstances around his death are also tragic, being shot in you home while you are recovering from a knee injury. i had heard he was on crutches too at the time.
This is a very sad day for the Redskin organization and for Redskin fans around the world.
Rest in Peace Shawn, our prayers are with you and your family.

DC U game 1

Okay, so it did not work out like we planned last night. DCU lost 1:0 to Chicago; now they come into our house next week and have to hold on to their one goal lead at RFK. We dominate at RFK. The fans will be in full support and hungry for a win.
Just wait Blanco, i can feel that someone is going to break one of your legs.
I bleed black and red. GO DC!!

DC UNITED

DCU is in the first round of the playoff's tonight against Chicago with their new star Blanco. Ohhh, big old Mexican international Blanco.... lame, he looks like he is going to have a heart attack on the field. He has been good for the league but real DC fans can't stand him. He was a dick to the US National team for years and is now a dick to the famed and ever popular club, DC United. All hail DC United.
DCU will crush them tonight in Chicago then come home next week for the second half of the home and away series. My prediction is; tonight DC 3 Chi 1 and for next week DC 2 Chi 0.
And for your viewing pleasure here are the top goals from this season from DC United.

With that out of the way, more ramblings to come; peace and enjoy the game.

More drama w/ Disney

Okay,

So I contend that Disney has ruined little girls and their attitude of growing up and finding a man. If we examine the movies and stories they have put out about princesses and princes they all say the same thing, the man of your dreams (your prince charming) will come and sweep you off your feet and take you away into the sunset to me married and live happily every after.

WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP. All these princesses, Jasmine, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Mulan (who is not even a princess I might add), Snow White, Pocahontas, and Ariel all are searching for the perfect man. And yes, in the end they do find him but not with out adventure and drama. Little girls want to be like the princess' they see on TV, they want the pretty dress, they want the septure, they want the magic powers, and the crown. If you don't believe me, just look at the number of princesses there are at Halloween, and how many think they are their favorite Disney princess, it is pathetic.

Then women spend their entire lives searching for Prince Charming, only to subconsciously over analysis ever single thing a man does and compare to their own prince charming.

Disney has ruined the opportunity for little girls to grow up and expect the normal things from a man...nothing but grief. There-in-lies the problem, b/c of these movies, today's man has to strive to be like those princes'. Saving the day, buying flowers, cheering them up,sing the perfect song at just the right time to make the world a better place, slaying the dragon, having a perfect kiss that solves all life's problems. This is a hard task to live up too. I know many a man that spend their entire lives trying to be the prince, only to fail over and over again, it is never good enough. Men, we will never be the Prince Charming, stop trying.

Sherk is the only true movie about princesses i can handle, b/c Sherk is not really a prince, and deep down the princess is actually an ugly ogre also, so they are both the same in the end. Which is more true in life than any Disney movie. You find the person that you can live with you and you can fall in love with b/c you see some of yourself in them and they see some of themselves in you. You have similar like and dislikes and you bond over those, everything else is trivial.

So, that is my contention over Disney and how they have ruined little girls and little boys.

More old school internet funny

You have to admit these two were really funny and original at the time, now any idiot with a camera can get on youtube.

Disney has it out againest Mothers

So I have this theory that Disney does not like mothers.

Let's think about this, Disney says they are a family company and they are a kid friendly company, and they promote the imagination of our nations you. But were are all the mothers in their stories. (i have another beef with Disney about the whole princess' and knight in shining armor thing, but that is for another ramble)

Where are all the mothers??

Ariel from the Little Mermaid only had a father

Belle from Beauty and the Beast only had a father

Jasmine from Aladin only had a father

Pocahontas did not have a mother only a father

Mulan only had dad, she even went and fought in his place during a war.

Sleeping Beauty did not have a mother

Did Snow White have a mom... NO.

Cinderella had a mother but she was a step-mother and was "evil." Maybe we can blame the terrible stigma that step mother have on Disney. Maybe stepmother would have been more warmly embarrassed by their step children had Disney not tainted the step parent waters.

Bambi had mom, but what happened to her...she died.

Tarzan had both of his human parents die.

Okay, there were a few mom's... Simba from the Lion King had a mom that actually save the day, the parent in Toy Story was a mom, but you never did see her. Dumbo had a mom, but she did not like him for a while. Even the mom in Mary Poppins was scarcely around.

So can somebody explain to me what is up with why Disney has it out against moms'??

Old School Internet funny

Remember this guy, this guys could have been the birth of Youtube--the Numa Numa Guy.
I am a little embarassed to admit this but I did out and buy this song from itunes, it is a pretty good song. I like it anyway.

DC United kicks ass

So, DC United soccer team is on a 5 game win streak, this is ridiculous, they are going to over come the NE Revolution soon and be top of the table. Which is really good going into the home stretch of the end of the season.
Everyone is playing well, Ben Olsen has hit is stride and is playing really well and very smart. Moreno is the current all time MLS goal scoring leader with 109 goals in his career. The wife and i were there for the momentous occasion. Oh, we were also there for the David Beckham debut game a few weeks ago at RFK. The place was sold out and quite possibly the loudest i have ever heard from that stadium in the last 10 years of going to DCU and international soccer games there.
But back to DC United, i am little pissed that Josh Gros is not continually starting, he has been bounced around the line up and needs to be a constant presence on the left wing at mid fielder, were he belonging. That kid has the best work ethic of any pro athlete in any pro sport, it is brilliant how hard he tries.
Okay, enough rambling today. Talk at you next time.

Vote now and vote often. They both start out the same so make sure you watch them both.

Okay, my other Hollywood Crush

Well, she is really British so maybe she is actually not part of Hollywood, who am i kidding, she is part of Hollywood.
Sienna Miller is one of the most beautiful women on the planet, her smile, her eyes, her perfect figure, she is perfect, mmmmmmm.....

When I first saw here years ago on the short lived show "Keen Eddie" I have hooked, if you are not hooked here you go; join the we love Sienna Miller Club. (it is a small club just me.....and Sienna.....okay it is just me, i am so pathetic.)

My Hollywood Crush

Okay, not the only one, but she is one of the hottest and least seen Hollywood girls. From Old School waking up with the Wilson brother, to "the Girl Next Door."
She is so fine, enjoy.

Best Unknown Footballer Skills Player

This guy is some unknown crazy futsal guy. It is really good. If you are not a soccer fan and you a missing the subtle things he does keep watching and learn.
Damn.

Funny Soccer Video

This is a pretty good compilation with some classic tunes to jam with.

Lame TV

So the wife is addicted to this "age of love" show on NBC, it is the most awfullest show i have ever been witnessed too.
what the fuck is up with theses ridiculous dating shows that pit people against each other, don't they know yet that they love found on a lame reality show never lasts. it is absurd to see the pathetic ladies and pathetic men hoping that somebody loves them. "Oh please, love me, please somebody love me, i have no friends, boo hoo." Too bad, what kind of problematic childhood did you have that lead you to this realization that you are a loser and must vie for affection on TV.
Then there is the guy (or any main character like Flavor Flav, or Joe Millionaire) they are just as bad. What kind of smooth talking, slick tv exec talked them into this. They better be getting paid a hella-lot of money for this.

This the worst part, i am looking around youtube and find this... what the fuck is wrong with our society. This mother and daughter are embarrassing.

Weather Man

and lets not exclude the Weather ladies.
So am sitting here yesterday on July 4th in the DC area, and what come rolling but a some afternoon summer thunderstorms. The weather dudes are freaking losing it, they are talking about tornado's and funnel clouds and they have their Doppler 9 million out and they are tell me that a mad thunderstorm is about to land on my little town and my house. So, i look out the window and see, NOTHING, no rain, no thunder, no funnel cloud. My parents and uncles, and aunts are all calling to make sure i am not dead or taken away in a Tornado.
Those freakin' weather people just instill paranoia in people too freak them out.
Damn this really pisses me off.
So to the weather people and your Doppler radar's and your bread-o-meters (yeah CBS-I am calling out you Bread-o-meter), WTF is up with your jobs. Damn, you guys went to school for this??

Stupid Drivers

I really don't understand what the deal is with the stupid drivers??
Situation: You are driving, you see a person turn on there turn sign to change into your lane. You:
a) speed up to avoid letting this person into your lane
b) continue constant speed and pretend you are talking on your cell phone (which an other rant altogether)
c) ease up off the gas pedal and let the person in.
The answer is C. Karma is a bitch people, help a brother out when you are driving.
And can someone tell the story behind "2 footing". This is the person that is accelerating up a hill and somehow still has their brake lights on. WTF. First of all it is terrible for your car, second of it is terrible for me driving behind you, because I can now no longer tell if you are stopping or not. It is ridiculous.
Driving is a privilege and should be revoked for some people. I am not saying that I am the best driver, I miss blind spots, and forget turn signals sometimes, but at least try folks, try to be a nice person.

Oceans 11 and 1/2

This is pretty funny.
